3-Day Trip
Day 1
Start at Alfama and wander through Alfama's narrow, cobbled streets. Visit the Sé de Lisboa (Lisbon Cathedral) and enjoy panoramic views from Miradouro da Senhora do Monte. Enjoy a traditional Portuguese breakfast at a local café with pastéis de nata (custard tarts) and a bica (Portuguese espresso).
In the afternoon, go to Baixa and Chiado and explore downtown Lisbon (Baixa) and the chic Chiado neighbourhood. Visit Praça do Comércio, Rua Augusta Arch, and the elegant shops and cafés.
For lunch, you have to try a bacalhau dish (codfish, a Portuguese staple) in a Chiado restaurant.
The best way to spend the evening is to go to head to Bairro Alto for dinner. This area is known for its busy nightlife and Fado houses. Dinner and Fado Show is mandatory when visiting Lisbon.
Day 2
Time to visit some amazing historical places. Take a tram to Belém and once there visit the Jeronimos Monastery, Belém Tower, and the Monument to the Discoveries.
Don't miss the famous pastéis de nata at the historic Pastéis de Belém bakery. You will not regret it.
While in the area, explore the Museum of Art (MAAT), Architecture, and Technology for contemporary culture. For lunch, you have some interesting spots with amazing Tagus River view, so have a light lunch at a café.
In the evening, go to the other side of the city to visit Parque das Nações. This modern part of Lisbon, home to the Oceanário de Lisboa (Lisbon Aquarium) was initially build to host the Expo'98.
For dinner, there are a number of great options, enjoy a meal at a riverside restaurant in Parque das Nações.
Day 3
If you are into castles and nature, go to Sintra. Take a short train ride to Sintra and visit Pena Palace, Moorish Castle, and wander through the historic town center. You cannot leave Sintra without eating the famous local pastry called Travesseiro de Sintra. Find the Piriquita Café to enjoy the best ones.
After lunch, return to Lisbon and spend the late afternoon in the LX Factory, a creative hub with shops, galleries, and cafés.
To end your trip, go to Miradouro da Graça or Miradouro de Santa Luzia to see an fabulous sunset view.
